World music day, June 21st, will be celebrated in Belgrade with a series of events, but one concert will stand out – Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason will play in Sava Centar with his new supergroup Nick Mason’s Saucerful of secrets. The bend is playing early Pink Floyd songs, and was formed in 2018, since when it is on a constant tour in Europe and the United States, with all the concerts sold out or almost sold out. Beside Mason, the group members are Gary Kemp from the band Spandau Ballet, Lee Harris from the band The Blockheads, and Guy Pratt, who worked with Pink Floyd on several albums. Tickets are being sold from February 21st, with prices ranging from 2.200RSD to 4.900RSD.
Mason had a pause of 13 years between the last Pink Floyd concert in 2005. and the band’s formation in 2018, and he came up with the idea of forming a new band while preparing old Pink Floyd materials for publishing. These were the songs recorded in the first few years of Pink Floyd’s existence, but were not on the first two albums. Other songs the bend performs are those from the early period (1967-1972), all from first four Pink Floyd albums. Roger Waters also joined the band on the stage for one of the concerts, and for those who want the feel the complete music experience, there will be also o DVD with a complete concert, named “Live at the Roundhouse”, which will be released in April 2020.
The band Nick Mason’s Saucerful of secrets is on a tour since 2018, with a series of concerts in Europe, than in the United States, and now back in Europe. Mason explained that the new group is not just a Pink Floyd tribute band, but a gathering of musicians who want to transmit the original Pink Floyd spirit, the spirit of one very creative era.
