Belgrade airport “Nikola Tesla” is now by far the busiest airport in ex-Yu region, with 645.000 travellers in September. This is not only the proof that Belgrade is a logical choice for foreign travellers, but also that Serbians are switching from other regional airports where they can find cheap flights, to their own airport.
“Nikola Tesla” airport served 4.75 million passengers during the first three quarters of 2019, which is a growth of 7.5% compared to the same period of last year. New flights to France mostly drove this growth – two flights to Paris by Air France and ASL Airlines, as well as the flight to Lion by Wizz Air.
Belgrade airport is currently in 94th place globally in terms of passenger numbers, with nearly 28.000 departures annually. Second busiest airport in the region is Zagreb, on 116th place, while all other ex-Yu airports are mostly between 135th and 170th place. Among the region’s capitals, Sarajevo has the lowest number of passengers. International company Vinci Airports recently took over the management of Belgrade airport, and these results are very encouraging, as company is trying to make Belgrade airport attractive for both travellers and airlines. One of the benefits of flying from Belgrade is low number of cancellations and delays, as weather is almost always good, which is not the case with other regional airports, as most of them are much closer to mounties.
Hotel prices in Belgrade are lower than in other Balkan capitals, as there is lot of competition and one can always find a free room. Good hotels, lots of flights and not too-busy airport, make Belgrade a perfect city for business travellers. Jump Inn hotel Belgrade is among the favourite hotels for guests on business trips, as it is located in the city centre, while a car doesn’t have to pass trough the centre to get to the hotel. Better regulation of taxi service from the airport and cheap buses make trips to the city quick and easy, with taxi ride costing just 10 euros from the airport to Jump Inn hotel.
